Renoma In Decline? By Vivian Charlotte

Renoma In Decline? Merchants fleeing and parties going private.

Since its founding, Renoma has always been a great city, with many attempting to replicate its stunning beauty, as well as its impressive architectural prowess of not sinking beneath the Great Lake it floats atop. With its ever-growing number of Adventurers and the strength each one has, its power has always been without question as well, until now.

With the city’s recent bungling of several jobs, many have begun to question the Adventurer’s Guild and particularly its Leader, Ezekiel of the Fawns. The supposedly brutal yet fair leader has only been a part of the Guild for just under three years now, and yet, since his addition, his luck has seemingly brought nothing but woes upon the original choice for Leadership, Liam the Gambler, who’s job as Deputy has seen this great city through 8 years of rising growth.

Where Marian, the former Guild Leader, and Liam brought nothing but growth to the city with their cuts for merchants and many nobles, Ezekiel instead decided to bleed dry, even those who are in the lower middle class for the smallest of jobs. This has caused many of those with any amount of coin to flee the city in horror.

When asked for comment, the poor dear Liam merely said, “I want what is best for this great city, and while Ezekiel has his ups and downs, he really isn’t doing that bad of a job.” Obviously, the younger man feared for his job and came up with such a lie so as to protect his Guild, and this reporter wants nothing more than to show her support for Liam, as do the many others who wish for him to take the seat that is rightfully his.

When asked for comment, Ezekiel merely gestured rudely at me and slammed his door in our face. It embarrassed Liam so severely he offered us a free dinner date as an apology and introduced us to several up-and-comers within the Guild; we met with Rory Val Haizin, a C-Ranker with a short path to victory before him. Alongside him was a beautiful young woman named Ishtar Rein, a gem from the southwest desert territories and an absolute delight in conversation. Some of her more technical words on magic went a bit over this reporter’s head; however, it was refreshing to see a rising woman with a good head on her shoulders. We met many more throughout the night who were also shown, such as Elizebeth Carter, Jackson Smith, and Indigo Manson. All in all, it was a delightful night as we spoke of their many journeys. See pages 4 through 7 for more on those. Liam, ever the gentleman, finished the night with a delightful poem about coexisting and finished it off with a toast to the city’s prosperity.

Noticeably missing was the so-called Wild Beast of Ezekiel, Lilian Willow, who is the cause of the current discourse between Carth and Renoma. A once fast up and comer with two other C-Ranks under her belt, who has yet to rise past F-Rank in this Guild. After three years of trying, one can only imagine how she ever made it to C-Rank in the past, though with her looks, it wouldn’t have been hard. When asked, Liam merely stated she was out on another Job, let us hope this does not lead to yet another international dispute. Why would a mere F-Rank such as her be given such an important job, perhaps it was luck of the draw? Or perhaps it has to do with the rumors that the woman was brought along to the Guild with Esekiel himself. However, speculation aside, one thing is for sure, Ezekkiel of the Fawns is bad news for our great floating city. And we the people, are beginning to notice.
